*Disclosure: I am not affiliated with Caol Ila or Diageo nor do I receive any compensation for doing artwork. My designs are independent from them.
Caol Ila (coal-LEEL-la) is located on Islay and it is known for typically producing smoky scotches. Some of this goes into the Johnnie Walker blends. The original piece was commissioned by my friend, who absolutely love smokey scotches. He's been encouraging me to sell artwork for over 5 years, but I've been reluctant until now. Thanks to his help and other whisky drinkers (Hello, Instagram Pals), they've given me the courage to sell my artwork. It was great to see how much he liked it in person because I was afraid he'd be disappointed. However, I'll be working on another piece for him! Yippy.
This is printed on cold press paper. This particular type of paper is thick and textured. It’s usually intended for watercolor pieces because the grooves in the paper hold pigment and water. However, I like the thickness and weight in the paper because I think it gives my prints a more “vintage” look. It costs more than thin, glossy pieces of paper, but I prefer it that way because the quality of cold press paper is better IMHO. I want my images to be meaningful and special like a limited edition whisky.
